There are of course two major categories of dentistry. Restorative dentistry is the first one. We use this when we try to cure any ailments in your teeth and return them to the state they used to be in so they feel, look and work as if nothing happened to them.

In essence, restorative is for health and cosmetic for looks.

Despite this, such labels are not always helpful, and these are not totally accurate. The thing about a cosmetic procedure is that it also has many restorative elements. For example, we may whiten your teeth, which is first and foremost, cosmetic. But that is not all that happens. In the process of whitening, we make them straight with the new Invisalign system, something that no one will even notice. When it's all done, you have straightened teeth, making you look good with healthier teeth being a bonus.

In terms of veneers, we try to make then as thin as possible so we can make sure that only the minimum amount of natural teeth is lost. We can modify many aspects of your teeth, like the color, length and shape of your own teeth and you will be astonished at how much better we have made them even though there was no need to disturb your natural teeth.

Do you know Peter Frampton? Well this is his picture. You may be too young to remember, but Peter had a great album that made him a huge star around the world. He sold 16 million albums, an amazing feat at the time.

Frampton scored his success in 1976, when it didn't matter where you went, you couldn't go and not be subjected to Frampton and the Frampton Comes Alive album.

The reason I'm going on about Peter Frampton is because I think Frampton has good teeth and regardless of that fact that I don't know him or treated him, he may have dental veneers or what we see are his actual teeth.

I know I haven't even come near to doing something like Detroit dental veneers for Peter but I certainly could. I would make sure that I fuse together the gaps unless he didn't have any gaps of course. If this was for you, I would color your front teeth consistently, so everything is equal.
