People around here who need a dental crown are under the impression that they would need lots of money. The don't know the cost of Westland dental crowns. Westland dentist Fotolia_7103287_XS.jpg

Upon seeing the costs, they get even more confused. They start to wonder why the price differences are so wide. How come some seem very reasonable, while others are so expensive?

Why is there so much difference?

It is easily explained. To do this, though, I need to let you know about the ingredients of a crown, which would make it clearer as to the reason prices differ so much.

Each Westland dental clinic has its own pricing policy. It is really quite simple. You get dentists who are keen on their own learning. They love improving their knowledge, investing in new technology and sending the dental staff to additional training.

It requires a lot of money for a dentist to do all this. Of course, there is no compulsion on me to siphon off cash for these kind of things. But I do it because I do a better job when my staff and I are ahead of the times.

Crowns are also made in a dental lab. You can't buy them off a shelf. To make a crown you need a lot of things. It is made from high-quality materials that can cost quite a bit.

As for our clinic, we have a policy not to use cheap labs and materials. We use suppliers that are relatively costlier than other places.

Porcelain evokes thoughts about ancient China. Gold is something you associate with Tiffany's. And fusion would probably have you tapping to jazz. In similar fashion, dental crowns are synonymous with my practice. I use only the best sources for my materials. As far as dental resources go, mine are equivalent to gold from Tiffany's. I could easily buy cheaper materials but I firmly believe in what I'm doing.

It is much more valuable to invest a little bit more on crowns that don't crumble after a few months or weeks. You can use them for many years and they look good as well.

And another thing. The work will be done by a Westland dentist such as myself who is always on the lookout for better equipment and opportunities to learn more about the profession.

More than anything is the connection I have with my clients.

We have a great relationship.

I keep telling this to my customers. I can't fool my customers. If you know I'm good at what I do and I take the time to care for your teeth, we can have a relationship based on professionalism and trust. This helps me do the best job I can to make your teeth healthy and look good.

Back to price, and dental crowns could set you back quite a bit. We are talking $600 to $2000 here. Maybe more.

In terms of materials, some crowns contain metal, while there are also all-ceramic ones. If your crown has metal inside, it may last longer than ceramic. It doesn't mean that folks don't go for all ceramic, but the choice is yours. You know best what your teeth go through day in and day out. You may put your teeth through a lot of force in terms of grinding and, in this case, you need to avoid all-ceramic.

If you want, you could go for cheaper crowns. You may even think that you got a bargain by going for dental crowns at the lower end.

But, you can't guarantee that these crowns would look as good, feel as good, or last as long. These crowns are probably made with inferior materials by labs as well as dentists who may not give quality a high priority.

Well, that gives you a general idea about differences in crowns. And I hope it explains the variances in Westland dental crowns and their prices.
