Getting Temporary Dental Crowns here in Westland
If you decide to get a dental crown in Westland, remember, it should be molded to suit the size and shape of your tooth. Apart from that, it should also be the same overall look and color of other teeth in your mouth.
Once you've got your dental crown, you want to keep it for many years. Forever even. Because of this, we need it to be as strong as it possibly can.
We take this very seriously, which is why the folks in the lab team pay close attention to this. They want to be certain that the stuff we place on your teeth are the real thing and won't let you down after only a few weeks or months. That is something that makes me really happy — when my clients go away with a porcelain crown that is durable, makes you look good and is just like your natural teeth.
But you should know that the finished crown doesn't go on your tooth on your first visit. After your initial appointment, it takes time for us to produce the permanent crown.
We also need to get the tooth ready to make way for the porcelain crown. We have to grind away some of your original tooth. Naturally, you can't have a half-done tooth while you wait for the permanent crown. You want to eat properly and the ability to flash your smile at will and no one should know the difference. We will help you with a temporary crown.
Here in my Westland dental office, the makeshift crown we make for you is extremely tough. In fact, it could last several weeks or even a month. While you wait with this temporary crown, we will be making the permanent one. We must stress that we don't want to give you a temp crown that is too strong. It's not practical to have a well entrenched temporary crown because we would have a hard time getting it out.
When we fabricate your crown, the first thing to do is make a cast of your tooth and the opposite one as well. We do this as a favor to you so you can go on eating the same food that you would have eaten before the procedure.
We are able to make your teeth even so you can chew at your pleasure. Next the mold is filled with the crown material to give your temporary crown a snug fit. Then, it is time for attaching the temp with a cement that is strong but not permanent.
While the temporary crown will serve you well, I would still not recommend certain things. It is best you refrain from chewing on caramels, or breaking your teeth on ice. Even carrots should be set aside, unless sliced thin. Of course, you can soon do what you want. It's only while we do the best job we can on your permanent crown.
