After buying some contact lenses, you will take a trip to a qualified specialist to make sure the lenses are properly fitted. It is the same when you go to a dentist for a Westland dental crown. Westland dentist Fotolia_3075647_XS.jpg

Our job is to ensure your crown is working properly and fits just right. As such we would schedule a follow-up visit about a month or more after installing your Westland dental crown. Seeing us again will help you so we can avoid any untoward complications.

Some of the common after-effects are pain or tingling. You may even feel numb. As soon as this happens, please contact me at once. It may be nothing but don't take a chance. You should treat it promptly because the last thing you want is to aggravate the problem.

If you feel tingling and numbness, it might be because of what happened to your real tooth during the procedure. That was when we scraped away the outer or inner layer of your tooth. It also takes some time for your gums to recover, after enduring a process in which they would have been under a lot of pressure.

That's not all. Maybe the underside of the dental crown does not agree with your real tooth. Basically, the two haven't been fitted together accurately.

Another issue could be inadequate amounts of cement to attach the tooth to the crown. If this is the case, then your Westland dental crown has failed to stick to the inner part of the tooth, or dentine. There is nothing to safeguard your dentine when you drink. Now you know why you can feel it in your teeth and body. It's like scratching your nails over a blackboard.

One final thing. It could be that the nerve root has a problem. This probably happened while prepping the tooth for the attachment of a Westland dental crown. We find this condition happening quite a bit given the poor condition of the teeth at the start. They have already been damaged — a great deal.

The ideal way to treat it is a root canal to clear out the mess from your nerve root and give you back your crown.
