Variety, as they say, is the spice of life. As the mother of ingenuity, the quest for variety has an important role to play in our lives. If you ask me, I will tell you that life is like an empty shell without variety. It's like anchovies, pepperoni, chicken, salami, peppers, onions and anything else you could put on a pizza. You also find great variety in dental crowns, though it's not as diverse as pizza toppings. There are a host of dental crowns here in my Westland dental office, namely, metal, porcelain, and hybrid.

Metal dental crowns have the widest choices given the alloys in use these days. Some of the metals used to produce these alloys include gold, titanium, chromium, palladium, and nickel. Alloys are practically hybrids already, with all the different types of metals they have in them. This means the alloy's features are very much like the types of metals used to make it.

I find that customers will often ask for metal alloys. From these, gold dental crowns are the most sought after. The advantage is that they can withstand lots of pressure yet they are soft enough to accommodate your teeth on the opposite row.

Okay, that explains something about metal crowns. We now go on to porcelain ones, which are also tough and durable. These kinds of crowns are common for those who have dental crowns on any of their front teeth, since they look realistic and blend in well with original teeth.

But metal Westland dental crowns are preferable to the porcelain ones in the sense that they do not result in wear and tear of any of your other teeth they come into contact with.

The problem for metal is the lack of aesthetics. And porcelain crowns won't give you that soft touch you need to protect other teeth. The solution is the hybrid. This has the best of both worlds because the outer skin is made from porcelain, making it appear as if it is a real tooth. The inside is made from metal, providing a flexibility when you bite hard. When your teeth come together, the metal provides enough give to safeguard your other teeth.

I told you. Variety and ingenuity working seamlessly together. Eating and chewing is no longer a problem for you. Speaking of eating, where is the pizza man?
