As a dentist, I always have ongoing work. That's actually an advantage for all the patients I see, because I have the opportunity to repeat how important it is to carefully and briskly brush their teeth. This should be done, even if someone already has had dental crown work done. Westland dentist Fotolia_7258534_XS.jpg

A crown may be permanent, but the plaque germs are very sneaky. They'll try to gain entry into any little hole they can. And as soon as they break in through the outer seal of the crown, they will take even more of the already depleted tooth root.

Under these circumstances, it might be crucial to remove the tooth and replace it with a dental implant. But there are also means by which bugs can attack a dental implant.

Now, if you turn up at my dental office in Westland with a spoiled tooth that is too complicated for a simple veneer or filling, then we will look at putting in a Westland dental crown replacement.

To start with, I will look over your gums. That will notify me if we can go ahead or if we still need to take some steps to make them healthier. The area of the hole on the tooth is key, as well. It signals us if the nerves have been wounded or if a more intricate therapy will be necessary.

After qualification for a Westland dental crown comes the priming. This will include some shining, smoothing and sanding.

Following that, you may have less enamel than you did at first. What will be left is a circular articulating base on which to leave the dental crown like a solid chunk of building material.
